Gods & Aliens

Pretty heavy for my first blog??!!??!! Well yes, but this topic is the reason that I have finally started my blog.
Gods & Aliens – Two things which have always captured my imagination. Each completely apart from the other. One is worshipped the other is Feared. One is thought to be our savior the other our destroyer. One is Mythology the other is Unknown.
Being a Hindu, it has always been fascinating and at times confusing for me to offer my prayers. Well confusing coz of the sheer number of Gods and Goddesses that we pray to, but that’s not the topic I want to discuss here. It’s the fascination bit which I’m gonna talk about.
If you are a Hindu or if you know about Hinduism you would have also at some time or the other been amused by one particular fact about our Gods, most of them have more limbs than any normal human being. And even amusing would be deities like Lord Ganesha who apparently had his head Transplanted by his own father, or Lord Hanuman who is thought to have carried out the first Open-Heart Surgery.
Other very striking aspect would be the science of teleportation. I mean they could do this at will, and they didn’t even have say “beam me up Scotty”. They would travel through the Universe, through Heaven and through Hell without the need for transportation. Continuing with the topic of transportation, well long before the Wright Brothers got it right, you had the “Pushpak-Viman”which Lord Rama used to get back to Ayodhya from Lanka. And Lord Hanuman made it across the Palk Strait in a single leap and let’s not forget Narad Muni who would travel through the entire universe chanting ‘Narayana-Narayana’. Well amazing is the only word which comes to my mind for such an advanced Transportation System.
For the “Avtars” of the lords on earth, some superior scientific advances helped them to conquer the evil. Thousands of years before the first tracking missile was invented, we had the concept of “Shabd-bhedi” arrows, which means that the arrows could track down its target using the sounds it emits. Also there are numerous occasions in Ramayana when Lord Ram declares that his Arrows always achieve their target no matter where it tries to hide.
And not to be forgotten here is the “Brahmastra”. It is said that when a Brahmastra is discharged, there is neither a counter attack nor a defence that may stop it. It is believed that the Brahmastra never misses its mark and must be used with very specific intent against an individual enemy or army, as the target will face complete annihilation. Talk about Laser Warfare in those times.
Now, for me the question has never been whether Gods existed or not, but the question which I have always dwelled upon is “Are Gods Aliens???” Yes, you heard me right. Well that’s what my mind has been cooking up for years now. I have always tried to relate Gods to Aliens and I have come to believe that there might be truth in it. After all there should be some logical explanation to bridge the gap between Mythology and Fact. Some connecting link, any link.
Yeah Yeah I know it’s hard for you to relate a Divinity to a green slimy Martian or for that matter any alien, but I would ask you to avoid the mental imagery and just try relating these ideas to an Alien.  These creatures from outer space are supposedly more advance than us. Just as our Gods, they descend from the skies above us, that they travel the universe in their spaceships, have weird body structures and yes how can we forget their weaponry.
It just might be that our fore-fathers have had a close relation with these aliens which could explain the immense knowledge they had gathered. All these books which we discard today as mythological might actually have been first-hand accounts of the experiences which our ancestors might have had with these aliens. That the long hours of meditation coupled with all the mantras which are etched in these books might have been a way of communicating with these Alien beings. That our Gods were truly Superior Beings from other planets or solar systems.
The lost contact with these superior beings might have been the cause that today most of us neither believe in Gods nor Aliens. This idea has taken roots in my minds, but I don’t know whether I will ever be able to find the justification for it or not. It is something which I think is highly possible but also highly difficult to prove.
So, What do you think about??? Are Gods Aliens???
